ఆరోజు సాయంకాలం క్లాసుకి వెళ్ళేసరికి రోజూ కంటే క్లాసు ఎక్కువ సందడిగా ఉంది. నాకు అర్థం అయింది, క్లాసులోకి మరో క్రొత్త విద్యార్థి వచ్చిచేరినట్టు. అది మామూలే. ఎవరైనా క్రొత్తగా క్లాసుకి రావటం మొదలుపెడితే అప్పటికే క్లాసుకి వస్తున్న వాళ్లు క్రొత్త వాళ్లని తమలోకి ఆహ్వానిస్తూ, వాళ్లని అనేక ప్రశ్నలతో ఊదరగొట్టేస్తారు. తమ సీనియారిటీని వాళ్లకి అర్థం అయ్యేలా చేసే ప్రయత్నం చేస్తారు. ఒక రకంగా మన ప్రొఫెషనల్ కాలేజీల్లో ‘ర్యాగింగ్’ హడావుడి లాటిదే. కాకపోతే అది ప్రమాదకరమూ, ఇబ్బందికరమూ కాకుండా అమాయకమైన అల్లరే ఎక్కువ కనిపిస్తుంది వాళ్ల వయసుకు తగినట్టుగా.
అటెండెన్స్ తీసుకుంటూ, క్రొత్త కుర్రాడిని ‘ నీ పేరేమిటి?’ అని అడిగాను. ఆ పిల్లవాడు చెప్పేలోపు మిగిలిన వాళ్లు ఒక గుంపుగా కలిసి చెప్పేసారు,’ మహేష్ బాబు టీచర్’ అంటూ. ఆ పిల్లవాడు నవ్వుతూ నిలబడ్డాడు. నాకూ నవ్వొచ్చింది.
తెలుగు సినిమా హీరోల పేర్లు చాలానే వినిపిస్తున్నాయి ఈ పిల్లల్లో. కొందరైతే ఒక్కోసారి , ‘టీచర్ , నేను పేరు మార్చుకున్నాను’ అంటూ ఒక హీరో పేరు చెబుతుంటారు.
‘ అలా ఎప్పుడుపడితే అప్పుడు మార్చుకోకూడాదు. స్కూల్లో ఒక పేరు ఉంది కదా’ అంటే ‘అయితే ఇంటి దగ్గర, ట్యూషన్ లోనూ ఈ పేరు పెట్టుకుంటాను టీచర్ ‘ అంటుంటారు.
ఆ పిల్లవాడికి ఒక పదమూడేళ్లు ఉంటాయేమో!…
